  Holliston Selectmen vote yes on Article 30 at Tuesday night's Town Meeting. The Town voted 158 to 28 to fund the plan to put traffic lights in downtown Holliston.

Medical Marijuana -- Confusion and Frustration

The Holliston Police Department hosted an informal discussion and exchange of ideas about the issues presented by the law concerning the medical use of marijuana that went into effect in January 2013 entitled "An Act for the Humanitarian Use of Marijuana." The law has caused confusion about who is legitimately covered under it and frustration for patients looking for relief offered by the medical use of marijuana. The discussion was led by Chief John Moore and Detective Charles Todd.

And a discussion of Ballot Question 1 and the appointment of the new downtown traffic committee.

The Selectmen asked for patience and indulgence in the Town's snow removal, State Representative Carolyn Dykema spoke about what's going on at the State House, our football champions received a town proclamation for their team work and dedication, and Youth and Family Services Director Margaret Fitzpatrick presented the FY16 budget for review.

It was a lively and in-depth discussion at Coffee Haven on Saturday morning that included the possible acquisition of tasers for the Police Department, the development of the Andrews School, the Green Community program, Town Administrator vs. Town Manager, OPEB contributions vs. the schools' every day operations.


Vigil for Victims of Gun Violence

The Holliston Democratic Town Committee held a candlelight vigil on the green at the Congregational Church to remember the victims of gun violence in recent years. It was the eve of the second anniversary of the mass shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.
