Updates from the State House

by Senator Karen Spilka

Before I share updates on recent State House and district news, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the spirit of the Marathon and its particular significance this year, in the wake of last year's tragic bombing.

The Marathon has always been a symbol of the triumph of democracy, collaboration and community. This year, these values are even more poignant. As we once again resume our Marathon traditions, we also honor those who lost their lives or were injured in last year's tragedy and express our deep gratitude for the courage and heroism of the first responders, public safety officials and bystanders on that horrific day.

I am constantly proud of the strength and resilience of our entire Commonwealth. In my work, I remain committed to building bridges and bolstering our communities, fighting to ensure that individuals, families and businesses across our state continue to grow and thrive.

The "Spirit of the Marathon" exhibit was unveiled at the Natick Mall last week - it is a beautifully designed, inspirational representation of the rich history and symbolism of the Marathon. This terrific exhibit showcases MetroWest connections, as well as the ideals of global human connection, peace, collaboration and cultural exchange.

Warm Regards,
