Annual Holliston Community Shredding Day

Celebrating Earth Day 2014

To commemorate Earth Day 2014, an annual event run at Holliston High School will offer free secure document shredding and collection of electronics for recycling.  On April 26th, from 9am to noon, volunteers will be on hand to rid local residents of these unneeded items.

This is the 3rd year that Ed & Doriane Daniels of Realty Executives have run the program in Holliston.  “It has a tremendous response each year, with a perfect time of the year when people do Spring Cleaning, and the tax season will have ended 11 days earlier,” says host Ed Daniels.

Tax returns are generally kept for three years, with several areas that www.IRS.gov state would be exceptions to that rule.  Bringing them down to Shredding Day could clear out many of those corners of the basement.

Universal Shredding is hired each year to offer a very secure method of disposal.  A participant would be able to put their documents into a bin and watch the machine shred it on-site right there on a monitor.

Gallo Moving of Milford donates the collection of electronics at the event.  They bring out their Container on Wheels product, known as C.O.W.’s.  Clients use this solution for temporary storage, but Gallo Moving filled a 16’ container last year and delivered it to a local e-waste firm for recycling.

Electronics such as televisions, stereos, computer monitors, laptops, VCR’s, printers, and telephones are all accepted.

Although this event is a free event, each year donations are greatly appreciated for a local cause.  In conjunction with Earth Day activities being hosted by the Friends of the Holliston Trails, the Shredding Day will raise donations for that local cause.  “This group of volunteers are working to create a walking trail on an abandoned railroad bed thru town.” says Ed “It is a terrific asset for the entire community that we want to support this year.”

Additional information about this year’s generous sponsors, the types of documents and electronics to bring to the event, and to reach Ed or Doriane Daniels, can be found at www.MAhome.com.  Click on the Earth Day 2014 button.
