Yeah, Baby...

WOW, It seems like forever since the Kids got their nose across that little white stripe first. But after a lot of hard work and several early tune up races at the Waterford Speedbowl in CT and Twin State Speedway in Claremont NH, they got their new Toyota Camry into the winner's circle this past Sunday, Opening Day at Seekonk Speedway.

Practice Saturday brought smiles to the crew as they watched their Old Shoe driver Bill Bernard put the car through its paces chasing down old friends and rivals alike. After setting some impressive lap times, they loaded up the new Camry and headed back to the shop for a few very minor adjustments.

We were on the outside pole for the qualifying race with five-time tack champ Gerry DeGasparre # 71 on the pole. When the green flag waved, it was the Gerry & Bill show. Was this a sign of things to come?

Lady Luck graced us with her presence as the opportunity came during the last third of the race when Bill got by Bobby to take the number two spot. A late race caution lined Tyler & Bill up on the pole for the restart. Man that Old Guy is killer on the restarts - must be from the old straight line days of racing at the GM strip. Bill got into turn one ahead of Tyler and was clear by the next go round. It was nine to go and the Kid just put that new Toyota in cruise control picking up their first win of the 2012 season.

One more thing, the Thank Yous. Thanks to all the fans for your support.  Without you we wouldn’t be racing and we wouldn’t be having all this fun. A very special thanks to Mitch Green and his son Micky from Race Basics and Crazy Horse Racing down Maine somewhere for their help in putting together a very fast race car. To our sponsors and friends that have stuck by us through the years and to all those that have contributed to our success. Thanks.
