Holliston Newcomers Club Seeks Donations and Volunteers for
Annual Thanksgiving Day Baskets Program

Each Thanksgiving, over 100 local families gather around a traditional holiday dinner – complete with turkey, stuffing, potatoes, squash, a homemade pie and other delicious food – and give thanks to the Holliston community for that meal.

The annual Thanksgiving Day Basket Project is a collaboration between the community, the Holliston Newcomers, and the Holliston Food Pantry to provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need in our local area.  In order to make this project a success, however, we need donations from the community.

The Holliston Newcomers are collecting both monetary donations and donations of non-perishable food items such as stuffing mix, gravy, canned vegetables or pumpkin bread mix.  Non-perishable food items can be donated at drop boxes outside of several Holliston homes or during a food drive on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Shaw’s Supermarket in Ashland.  Monetary donations being collected will be used for the purchase of turkeys and produce.

To receive more information about what non-perishable items to donate, and where to donate them, please contact Rebecca Queeney at 508-429-5014.

Monetary donations can be sent to The Holliston Newcomers Club, P.O. Box 6581, Holliston, MA 01746, attention: Thanksgiving Baskets.  Checks should be made payable to The Holliston Newcomers Club.  Please note “Thanksgiving Basket Donation” in the memo of the check.

The Holliston Newcomers Club (www.hollistonnewcomers.org) is a nonprofit
organization that coordinates charitable, civic, education and recreational
events and activities in the town of Holliston.  The organization’s goal is to encourage association among community members and foster community spirit.  Membership is open to both residents and non-residents of Holliston.
