The 1728 Coffee House

Have you ever driven through Holliston along Washington Street on a Saturday night?  There’s not a lot going on.  No, the sidewalks haven’t quite been rolled up, but it’s very quiet.

But as you cruise past the green in front of the First Congregational Church, you may be surprised to hear amazing blues (or jazz) streaming out of the open doors of Jordan Hall.  Park your car and stroll in and you’ll find yourself among lamp-lit tables and a crowd of people who are clearly having a great time!

The 1728 Coffee House is Holliston’s own venue for live music and it theme is “community.”  The music is from our local community -- the delicious coffee -- amazing desserts and appetizers come from the kitchens of the best cooks in the community --  the volunteers who make it all happen are community members --  the entertainment is enjoyed by the community -- the proceeds from the 1728 Coffee House is donated to a local community charity.

Started by a few enthusiastic music lovers (from our community, of course), the 1728 Coffee House started in 2009 and has hosted three successful evenings.   Past music groups include The Stonehill Jazz Group, Walk That Walk Blues, and Stoneybatter Band.

Intrigued yet?  The next 1728 Coffee House will be on Saturday, October 2 at 7:00 PMLive music will be The Firehouse Band, which features contemporary American folk music.  Admission is just $10 and there are gourmet goodies and coffee available.

Tickets are available at the door or in advance by calling 508-429-8607 and asking for Joanne.  Coming with friends? If you purchase tickets in advance, we’ll save you a primo table.  And the proceeds will start a new local charity to repair the community steeple clock which doesn’t quite chime on the hour anymore.

And you thought you had to drive into Boston to hear great live music? Think again...
