Tim’s Trot is Sunday, September 29!  Register now at timsteam.org!

As many people in Holliston know, The Timothy O’Connell Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization established in 2008 in honor and loving memory of Timothy O'Connell.  Tim was a friend to all who met him and he continues to be a great inspiration.  Timmy courageously battled acute myeloid leukemia between May 2007 and his death on September 9, 2008, just two days after his tenth birthday.

The 9th Annual Tim’s Trot will take place on Sunday, September 29, at 3 pm at Holliston High School.  Registration at www.timsteam.org is open and is greatly encouraged!  In each of the past few years, Tim’s Trot has attracted over 900 runners, walkers, dog walkers, and strollers for the 1.9 mile course.  So, we encourage “trotters” to arrive early for their t-shirt pickup and Trot bags.  Check-in before the Trot will begin at 1:30 pm this year.

Tim’s Trot is a great community event and we thank everyone for your continuing and enthusiastic support!  Trotters who register in advance of Tim’s Trot will receive Tim’s Trot t-shirts – now a fashion staple - and Tim’s Trot bags filled with magnets, angels, reminder bands – and those who register in advance will be entered to win one of 7 Timmy Cakes that will be given randomly at the Trot.  Homemade ice cream from Smitty’s and Sundae School, both on Cape Cod, as well as apples from Philbin Orchards, are perfect endings to this celebration of Tim’s life.

We’re also very proud of the money we have given to support high school seniors as they venture off to college.  We have gifted over $82,000 in scholarships to residents of Holliston for post-secondary education in health-related fields.  We’re happy to support Timothy O’Connell Scholars who will make positive impacts on our healthcare.?

To date, the Foundation has awarded over $800,000 in gifts to these and other organizations.   We look forward to continuing to remember and honor Tim with the work we do in his memory.  Thank you all for supporting our efforts through fundraisers like Tim’s Trot!

We extend our most heartfelt thanks to Max Athy for creating Tim’s Trot as his National Honor Society project in 2011!  Please register soon at timsteam.org.  See you at the Trot on Sunday, September 29!
