The Adams Middle School girls track team just wrapped up another fantastically successful season, winning their 3rd Division 2 State Championship in a row on Saturday 6/2 at Clinton HS.  The girls had by far the largest and most difficult division to compete in yet came out victorious beating Groton-Dunstable who was 2nd, 72-64.5, beating 38 other schools in the process.

The girls were trailing by just a bit going into the 3 relay events but totally dominated getting 24 points by coming in 4th in the 4x800, and first in both the 4x100 and 4x400 events, while setting a new State Record in the 4x400 in the process!  The new state record holders, Kate Currie, Peyton Hastings, Mia Luisi and Paige Masson had their sights on the record for a year, and realized their goal beating the 2nd place team by over 18 seconds.

The 4x100 team of Ellie Currie, Jessica Smith, Ania Alwani and Mia Wolfgang had a much slimmer margin of victory but it was a significant and very exciting win.   Casey Wig, Jordyn Kuharich, Kayla Tomacelli and Ella Bosselman made up the 4x800 team who battled for 1st place all through the race finally succumbing at the end in a valiant and hard fought competition, shattering the previous school record in the process.

Many girls placed to make up the 72 points, those in the top 6 were Eva Bergloff, winning the shot put and placing in discus, Paige Masson, 2nd in the 400, Mia Luisi and Peyton Hastings 2nd and 3rd in the 800, Kate Currie placing 5th in the mile, Kate Stanwood and Ania Alwani 5th and 6th hurdles.

It was an extraordinarily successful season for this enthusiastic group as they finished the season undefeated for the 3rd straight year and came in 2nd in the Lincoln  Sudbury Invitational where they competed against some of the best Div 1 schools in eastern MA.  As a further demonstration of the girls prowess they established 11 new school records, which is just a remarkable achievement.

Coaches Brandon Kwas, Nathan Rollins and Peter Vigue said they couldn’t be prouder of the work and dedication of this group and were thrilled for their success.
