There’s plenty going on at the Holliston Public Library this summer.  On Monday, Aug 6 at 11 am the Morning Book Club will discuss Marie Benedict’s The Other Einstein, a novel about Albert Einstein’s spouse and her efforts to make a place for herself in the world of science dominated by men.  The History Book club participants will choose a title they recently read and share it with the group on Tuesday, Aug 14 at 6:30 pm.  New members are always warmly welcomed to either group at any time.  Readers may contribute their own ideas or sit and listen.  Books are available about a month before the discussions.

The film selection for Movie Monday on Monday, Aug 13 at 12:30 pm is The Post starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks.  It relates the true story of Washington Post owner Katherine Graham and editor Ben Bradlee and their exposure of government secrets in 1971.  The film is rated PG-13 and runs for 116 minutes.  Popcorn and beverages are served and everyone is welcome.

A telescope can now be borrowed from the library to watch the night sky at home.  It is a gift of the Aldrich Astronomical Society, Inc and can be borrowed free of charge with a valid library card for 2 weeks.  Instructions and guide to the sky are included.  The telescope can be reserved in advance and weighs only 14 pounds.  It is powerful enough to view the Rings of Saturn, the Galilean moons and nearby star clusters.

The library is looking for someone who is fluent in French to volunteer to lead a conversation group at the library.  The group will allow patrons to build their knowledge of the language by speaking to others in French.  To volunteer, call Leslie McDonnell at 508-429-0617 or email at lmcdonnell@minlib.net.
