Water Department to the rescue
I need not have worried.
Before I could say "Linda do you know the phone number for the Water Department?", the backhoe pulled up in front and a crew set up operation.
They exposed the leak, repaired the pipe, patched the hole and were on their way in no time at all. I'm impressed and grateful to have such a dedicated and competent Water Department. Thank you all.
