Invasive Plant Talk
The Holliston Conservation Associates is pleased to host Dr. Jennifer Forman-Orth (PhD.) who will present a short talk on invasive plants. Dr. Forman-Orth is an invasive plant ecologist who currently works for Mass Dept. of Agriculture Resources. This talk is for the general public, whether you are interested in agriculture, nature, horticultural, or are just plain curious!
The talk will be held on Wednesday, October 28th, 7:30 PM, in the Johnson Room at the Holliston Police Station, 550 Washington Street. Parking is available across the street, courtesy of the Holliston Historical Society (547 Washington Street).

Invasive Species is the current issue for this years Massachusetts Envirothon. "2016 Current Issue Invasive Species Massachusetts has adopted the National Conservation Foundation's 2016 Envirothon Current Issue (sponsored by Ontario Envirothon), "Invasive Species: A Challenge to the Environment, Economy, and Society". Species invasions pose practical natural resource management problems. For over a century, scientists and resource managers have studied the negative impact that new species can have on ecosystems. Successful management efforts have used scientific understanding to control individual invading species as well as to maintain the integrity of ecosystems. This scientific research and science-based management is critically important work. It is taking place in Massachusetts, today.
