Abraham Lincoln Impersonator.

Matching Lincoln's height and beard, Steve Wood, of Claremont, N.H., bears enough of a resemblance to our 16th president to make heads turn even when not wearing black trousers, vest, frock coat, and stovepipe hat. His first-person historical interpretation, "A Visit with Abraham Lincoln," includes anecdotes from Lincoln's visits to MA & NH, stories of his early life, campaign debates with Stephen Douglas, and the Civil War that followed his election to the Presidency. Following a short discussion of the events leading up to Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, he will close with a reading of the Gettysburg Address.

Steve has been researching our 16th president and portraying Lincoln at schools, libraries, historical societies and community events since 1995. He is a member of the Association of Lincoln Presenters and has been featured in New Hampshire Magazine, on WMUR (NH) Chronicle, WCVB (Boston) Chronicle and New Hampshire Public Radio's Front Porch and The Exchange. He's been devoting more time to his historical presentations of Abraham Lincoln since his retirement after nearly 30 years as an Extension Educator in Forest Resources with UNH Cooperative Extension.
