NATIONAL LANCERS WILL RIDE IN CELEBRATE HOLLISTON PARADE

The National Lancers of Framingham will take part in the Celebrate Holliston parade on Sept. 19, 2015. Riding with the Lancers will be three Tobin brothers; Andy, Chris and Paul. All three grew up in Holliston and Chris and Paul still live in town. Both also rode in Holliston’s 250th parade as members of the 4H Saddle Dusters. All three brothers have played the role of Paul Revere on Patriots Day. Andy recently appeared as Paul Revere in the Travel Channel’s Time Travel show. The three Tobin brothers have a combined record of 69 years in the National Lancers.

The National Lancers, organized in 1836 in Boston, are a ceremonial cavalry troop in the Massachusetts Organized Militia. The Lancers served as cavalry in the Civil War and as a machine gun company in World War I. In 1920 they became a strictly ceremonial cavalry unit. The Lancers participate in dozens of parades and patriotic events every year. They have been reenacting the rides of Paul Revere and William Dawes since 1910.
