Second Quarter Real Estate Sales Still Healthy, Prices Decline

One year ago buyers were frantically writing contracts to purchase homes by June 30 so they could take advantage of a federal tax credit for first-time buyers and some repeat buyers. In Holliston from April 1 through June 30 last year 43 homes were sold in town during that time. This year during the same period, 40 homes were sold, showing a brisk market despite a slow start to the spring selling season due to snow and inclement weather.

Real Estate Prices, Sales Rise in Last Quarter of 2009 By Miah Kattman & Barbara Kattman Consumers were shopping for more than toys this past holiday season. The number of Holliston real estate sales was up 40 percent in the last quarter of 2009 versus the last quarter of 2008. In addition, sales prices increased seven percent when comparing the two quarters.

Home Sales on the Rise, Prices Remain Stable Home sales of single family homes in Holliston spiked 24 percent in the third quarter of 2009, compared to the same quarter a year ago.
