Day 2 America in Bloom Judges Tour (part 1)

America in Bloom judges have visited Holliston 6 times. Each participant is rated on specific criteria – Flowers, Landscaped Areas, Overall Appearance, Historical Preservation, Urban Forestry, Environmental Efforts, and a new category for 2018, Community Vitality. The judges passing through the Phipps Hill Tunnel with Robert Weidknecht and Kathy Shore on bicycles.

Holliston in Bloom volunteers spent a brisk but sunny Saturday morning cleaning up the Big Border adjacent to the Church Green and Town Hall along Washington Street.

HIB Finishes Senior Center Beautification

It took five hours with about twenty volunteers. Shrubs, perennial flowers, and bark mulch were donated by Ahronian Landscaping. Holliston In Bloom bought Mums, Anne Huntington, a family member of Proven Winners Company, stopped in with another dozen of donated shrubs and flowers, and several members donated plants from there own gardens making an oasis !
HIB Recognizes Best Dressed Businesses

Next year, HIB hopes to sponsor contests such as Best Front Yard, Best Containers, and Best Use of Antiques for both commercial and residential properties. Look for MORE color, and MORE blooms as more businesses and individuals participate in 2017!!!
Much Abloom in Town

Members of the Holliston in Bloom Committee, and others too have been active in improving already beautiful Holliston. A new pollinator garden was created at the Robert Adams Middle School on Community Service Day in late May. Holliston in Bloom member and stonemason PJ Kilkelly built three new raised 4’ x 8’ garden beds at Mission Springs senior housing. The Downtown Marigold Project added annuals at Town Hall for more summer color in addition to planting throughout public areas downtown and at the Metcalf Pump House.
PHDs NEEDED FOR HOLLISTON IN BLOOM PROJECT AT SENIOR CENTER

We are starting Phase I of the plantings surrounding the exterior of the Senior Center. Phase 2 will happen in the fall after the completion of the parking lot expansion. There is much to do and we are planning two days of work from 10 AM until 2 PM each day.
