Signage Being Added to Trail

by Unknown Biker
8/7/2014

New signage appears ready to be placed on the rail trail between Cross Street and Summer Street. Having taken a few trails off of the main trail hunch is that this sign tells about property in the Wenakeening Woods area - just a hunch though.

Back down the trail towards town last there was another sign of sorts pictured below.

While I'm not sure of the policy on horse poop, one trail user took the time to spell out in the large amount of garden fertilizer left on the trail "pick up this s%$t.

Horses aren't the only ones leaving a reminder of their presence on the trail. This bag was observed near Mayflower Landing.

Folks in the Regal Street area either have very large ant hills or they might believe their property extends further than it really does. All in all I had a pleasant few rides on the trail this week.

Unknown Biker does us all a service by being vigilant about proper care for the trail. It is a resource that we have only begun to use and benefit from. Those who mistreat the trail need public reminders of the need to clean up their own messes and leave nothing but footprints or bike tracks. No walker, biker, pet owner or horse rider should ever use the trail and think somebody else is going to take care of their mess. Thank you Unknown Biker and keep those reports coming!

I like reading the news by local people on this local news site. Thank you Unknown Biker, for keeping us informed. Your photos and notes will help us learn how to use and care for this treasure that is our rail trail. Readers who don't like the content of the news may criticize the (bike)-messenger, but perhaps their energy would be better spent finding news they like and reporting it. Out of the armchair and into the fray - we need volunteers!

Also agree with Stan…it's easy to point things out and complain. Next time, bring a trash bag and clean it yourself.

I guess I was expecting articles about riding. Maybe just change your pen name from Unknown Biker to Unknown Watchdog?

Unknown biker, keep posting updates. Inconsiderate people should be called out.

Unknown biker's comments are important reminders that, as a community, we need to take responsibility for our resources. A lot of work and money has gone into the rail trail and the careless regard for this resource shown by people who leave garbage or dog/horse droppings on the trail needs to be called out and remedied. Keep up the good work, unknown biker!

To paraphrase, poorly: "A fiery bicycle with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty Hi-Yo Holliston! The Unknown Biker! ... The daring and resourceful masked rider led the fight for law and order and less horse poop in the early stages of the Rail Trail! Nowhere in the pages of history can one find a greater champion of justice! Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear! From out of the past come the thundering pedal strokes of the great bike Silver! The Unknown Biker rides again!"

Unknown, Your rides on the trail seem to put you out more than anything else. Perhaps it's time to find another hobby?
