On Saturday, February 27th from 10am-2pm the Placentino Elementary School will once again transform into a local science museum for the young.  Sciencefest has been a Holliston celebration of science and technology for over 20 years.  Hands-on activities are geared towards fun and encourage children to ask “How does that work? What would happen if I did it this way?”  This year kids will be able to make slime at the chemistry table, launch water rockets with Alka-Seltzer®, examine feathers under the microscope, create shadow figures on a wall, propel paper rockets into the rafters, ride a hovercraft down a hallway, view the night sky in a visiting planetarium, explore the beautiful art embedded in nature, and much more. The annual event is sponsored by the Holliston Elementary Parent/Teacher/Student Association (HEPTSA).”

Highlights from Sciencefest of 2014:

Children and their families flocked to the school to learn about science in all forms. Evan Scaramella, above, holds up his design created on a liquid handler. The liquid handler is used for medical testing, forensics, drug research and oil testing. The machine is made by Perkinelmer and was on display for the kids to view.  This was just one of the fascinating science exhibits at the Miller / Placentino Sciencefest.

Kids were able to play with old telephones (first they had to figure out how to dial them), make slime, examine owl pellets under the microscope, create shadow figures, propel paper rockets, ride a hovercraft and much more. The annual event was sponsored by HEPTSA.
