Holliston's Oldest Veteran to Celebrate 100th Birthday

Although she is not as well known here on Cranberry Lane as her sister Thelma, Grace (Pond)Monahan has been residing with Thelma for more than five years.  Grace moved to Holliston before she was three, graduated from Holliston High School, worked at Dennison Mfg, served in the WAVES during World War II, and later married and lived in Pawtucket, RI, before returning to Holliston.  You would marvel at her recollections of Holliston back in the 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s.

Having been recognized as the oldest veteran in Holliston, Grace will celebrate her 100th birthday on Wednesday, December 18th. She is housebound but still quite a lady. Watching the Patriots is a favorite activity for her on weekends, although she hasn't forgiven Mr. Kraft and Coach Belichick for allowing Wes Welker to go to Denver.

Grace will have a quiet celebration with family.
