Holiday Fashion and Flowers
The Holliston Garden Club announced today that they are offering a new twist to their traditional holiday floral design program this year: a fashion show. The show is on Thursday, November 7, 2013, with a slightly changed format from previous years. A wide array of hors d’ouevres and sweets prepared by Garden Club members will be served early at 7:00 p.m., with the show beginning at 7:30 at St. Mary’s Church Parish Hall, at 8 Church Street in Holliston. As usual, there is a fabulous gift table following the show
The featured floral designer this year is Sue Kaplan, two-time winner of the Maynard Winston, and winner of myriad other awards as well. She is well known and respected for her work at the MFA’s Art in Bloom, as well as her winning designs for the New England Flower Show (now known as “Blooms”). She has her own floral design business, which she has run for many years, doing designs for weddings and functions from coast to coast.
As Kaplan works on each holiday-themed design, Garden Club members will model clothing from Fine Feathers, the noted Medway boutique located on Rte 109. Known for its eclectic mix of clothing for everyday or special occasions, the fashions will cover the gamut from casual to cocktails and complement the floral arrangements.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Holliston Garden Club's many civic projects, which include tree and flower plantings throughout the town, programs for children and seniors, and Arbor Day events. The Club also provides scholarships and educational grants to benefit Holliston students.
Tickets for “Holiday Fashion and Flowers” are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased at these locations:
