Total Water Ban Lifted

by Paul LeBeau
9/17/2013

Water storage tank levels have returned to close to their normal seasonal levels.  The Water Department is removing the total ban on outside watering that was imposed on August 27 effective September 17.  The mandatory odd/even water ban detailed below is now in effect.  Thank you for your patience and cooperation.  For more information, please contact the Water Department at (508) 429-0603 or at valovcind@holliston.k12.ma.us.

MANDATORY ODD/EVEN WATER BAN

Under the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s Water Management Act Permit to the Town of Holliston, the Water Department is mandated to impose a Water Ban every year on nonessential outdoor water use; the Water Ban began May 1 and will continue until September 30.

NONESSENTIAL OUTDOOR WATER USES INCLUDE irrigation of lawns, washing of vehicles, washing of exterior building surfaces, washing down driveways and walkways.

Properties with EVEN STREET NUMBERS may water lawns on TUESDAY and THURSDAY outside the restricted hours of 9AM – 5PM.

Properties with ODD STREET NUMBERS may water lawns on WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY outside the restricted hours of 9AM – 5PM.

NO OUTSIDE WATERING ALLOWED ON SATURDAYS, SUNDAYS and MONDAYS.

It should be noted that under typical weather conditions, lawn watering normally requires only 1 inch of water per week to remain healthy.

You can direct questions about the mandatory water ban to the Holliston Water Department at 508-429-0603 or to valovcind@holliston.k12.ma.us. Thank you for your cooperation.

Oh good. I can start showering again. I was being safe just in case it didn't rain, the family was beginning to sit away from me...
