Inside the Artist's Studio

Naomi Deutsher, Featured artist.

Naomi travels from her home in Newton as often as she can to indulge her creative spirit in her studio at the Holliston Mill.

Her studio is a home away from home. When invited into her studio, she welcomes you to sit on a weathered leather sofa, to set your glass on a side table covered with glass pieces speaking of memories, to talk about your work or hers.

The space is all about color, texture and enthusiasm. The studio walls are textured barn board. Old wheels are suspended from the ceiling, reminiscent of the work that was once done in this old shoe mill.

Naomi’s artistic journey is a feast for the eyes. The paintings hanging on the wall change frequently. In one visit, there were representational paintings, beautifully telling the transition from reality to abstract; in another, the powerfully textured pieces that shout color and energy. Naomi has a “dive-right-in” personality that is reflected in her work, which has evolved from representational to textured abstract and is currently moving towards a more subtle technique.

She is also an avid user of technology and watches videos of artists’ demonstrations so that she can learn new techniques.

When she is not creating in her studio, she is a Presentation and Executive coach.
