Open Casino Letter to the People of Everett, MA

It will be beautiful!  It will be family friendly!  It has the support of your Mayor and other residents! Steve Wynn was raised in Everett so he and already knows your local needs. For Everett there is no downside!

Compare to Milford, MA

-  Y   You are close to Logan Airport, and already have the appropriate highway access in place – no waiting years for “approvals” or reconstruction.  (There might even be casino sponsored boat rides on the Charles!)

-         You have a plentiful supply of water (MWRA) which Milford and its neighboring communities do not.  Plus you already have sewers and adequate trash removal.

-         Everett has an ample supply of multi-family housing and has learned to deal with “hot-bedding.”

-         You have already accommodated a surge of foreign languages in you schools (up to 30 in Uncasville and Ledyard, CT).  Many of your needed new teachers may already be in place.

-         Everett can better absorb lots of new $11.50/hour ($23,000/year) jobs.

-         Some(?) of your existing local businesses reportedly will be invited to operate in the casino.

-         You have been successfully dealing with hordes of college students and other casino-like enthusiasts commuting into town for years. You have the necessary police force in place.

-         Everett will benefit from the “free” clean up an existing environmental hazard.

-         People expect to find facilities like casinos near big cities.  Hence, your adjacent property values may actually increase.

This list can be continued but the point is: in the race for the one new Eastern MA casino many of us are really rooting for you to Wynn.
