I think the horse is already out of the barn on this. The HBA has explained its position sufficiently, and it's time to move ahead. Let's put all this energy towards a couple of very good causes: keeping the casino resort from being built in Milford, and supporting the Community Action Fund, too.

Just a horrible message either way. Lack of forethought and poor planning. I am really disapointed in this decision.

Dear "Concerned": The Monte Carlo night is a not a statement from the HBA about gambling. If you really believe that the fundraising event is going to "introduce gambling to Holliston" as you suggest, then do you agree that we should take Bingo out of our churches and Senior Center because that's gambling AND we should take the lottery machines and scratch tickets out of the stores and gas stations in town? If that is your argument, I think we should ban the liquor stores in town because that promotes drinking/drunk driving/alcoholism. My concern is that people are taking the event out of context and turning it into something political. Again, please stop comparing apples to oranges.

Why are you confusing two very different things?? This EVENT has nothing to do with the town or the HBA opposing or wanting a casino in Milford. This is a FUNDRAISER....a fundraiser to benefit the citizens of Holliston. Please keep the casino issue separate. I'm very much opposed to a casino moving in down the street but I'm all for fundraisers ( even ones that involve gaming) and even Bingo!

I agree... Pretty odd that the HBA would choose a casino night. You'd think they'd be the first in line against a casino 4 miles away. Have they ever been to a destination casino and seen what happens to the local businesses?!? The whole idea is to entrap everyone near and far to spend all their money at the casino- restaurants, games, bars/clubs, hotel, shops, etc. It doesn't help local business- it kills it.

Is the town for or against a Casino? Here we are, Holliston Businesses supporting gambling, introducing it to Holliston. Confusing message to say the least. Maybe the evening in Holliston will change our attitude and support Milford!
