This Thanksgiving, over 125 local families will gather around a traditional holiday dinner – complete with turkey, stuffing, potatoes, squash, a homemade pie and other delicious food – and give thanks to the Holliston community for that meal.  The annual Thanksgiving Day Basket Project is a collaboration between the community, the Holliston Newcomers, and the Holliston Food Pantry to provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need in our local area.  In order to make this project a success, however, we need donations from the community.

The Holliston Newcomers are collecting both monetary donations and donations of non-perishable food items.

Non-perishable food items (Cranberry Sauce, Turkey Gravy, Olives (whole/pitted), Green Beans, Stuffing Bread Mix – cranberry or pumpkin, Brownie Mix, Cookies – crème filled, Mixed Nuts, Coffee, Tea Bags, Roasting Pans) can be donated at a drop box at Fiske’s General Store between 11/1 and 11/9.
Monetary donations are also being collected, and will be used for the purchase of turkeys and produce. Monetary donations can be sent to Barbara Leek, 487 Norfolk Street, Holliston, MA 01746. Checks should be made payable to The Holliston Newcomers Club.  Please note “Thanksgiving Basket Donation” in the memo of the check.

The Holliston Newcomers Club (www.hollistonnewcomers.org) is a not-for-profit organization that coordinates charitable, civic, education and recreational events and activities in the town of Holliston.  The organization’s goal is to encourage association among community members and foster community spirit.  Membership is open to both residents and non-residents of Holliston.
