Gotta Love It...

That’s right; the Cardiac Kids won their third race of the 2012 season this past Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway. After two second place finishes and two feature wins in the last four attempts, an elated driver Bill Bernard appreciated the fans, sponsors, teammates and his family during the victory speech after the conclusion of the 30-lap Late Model feature.

He went on later to say the team is focused on putting the very best car they can onto the track, race hard, race clean and let the points take care of themselves. That said the race for the championship is heating up as is all the racing action at the Cement Palace, the Action Track of the East.

The Kids rolled into Bristol County Stadium with the knowledge they had done their homework, the 47 car was ready to rumble and it was obvious after the first practice when Crew Chief Conrad Ardine parked the car for the rest of the afternoon and allowed no changes to be made. Ya, we were fast, real fast, right out of the hauler. Crewmember Mark Abruzzi had the Guardian Angels once again in his possession as the team made their plea for safety, speed, fun and, yes indeed, if they felt so inclined, to ride with the Kid and guide him to victory lane.

Yup, the Old Guy ruled this night. The top guns came to challenge that Old Duffer time after time but in the end it was him and five-time Track Champ Gerry DeGasparre #71. Gerry was as tough as nails but the Kid was not gonna be denied again this night. He watched the checkers fly with a smile and a thanks to Those watching over him.

Judy Ferreira was there again this night up on the front stretch watching all the action. She’s a short track racing fan that has made a couple of wonderful hand woven pieces for the Kid to show her support for the team. She gave Bill an Angel pin that he wore on his lapel this night and he told Judy that she’d be riding along with him so keep focused and guide him around the track. That she did folks, with all her heart; she was the first to greet Bill in Victory Lane and to receive a warm hug and heartfelt thanks.

There’s a lot more that we’d like to say, but this win was extra special, maybe the best yet.  It just hasn’t sunken in yet. The Kids are on a roll with a fast car and some pretty darn good karma going on in within the team, their family, friends and fans. Let’s hope they can keep the momentum going as fall approaches and the waning days of the 2012 season disappear...
