Second Annual Tim's Trot 3K Race

The Timothy O'Connell Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization,
established in 2008 in honor and loving memory of Timothy O'Connell, a friend
and inspiration to so many.  Tim courageously battled acute myeloid leukemia
between May 2007 and his death on September 9, 2008, just two days after his
tenth birthday.  Tim's warm smile, his gentle and loving spirit, his boundless
hope and his incredible physical and emotional strength will forever live with
those who were lucky enough to know him.  The Foundation's mission includes the
support of charities devoted to the needs of cancer patients who are under the
age of eighteen (18) and their families.

The Race will be once again organized by Max Athy, a Holliston High school
senior student/athlete with support by the O'Connell Family and strong
collaboration from Tim’s mom Joanne.   “We are so pleased by the community
interest in a second Tim’s Trot, and we’re so thankful for the support of the
300 or more runners and dozens of sponsors that have stepped up and backed the
mission of The Timothy O’Connell Foundation.  It’s been four years since
Timothy’s death, and we’re still many years away from understanding the causes
of acute myelogenous leukemia and other childhood cancers, and from finding
cures for those cancers.  There’s so much work to be done, and the money that
the Trot will raise for the Foundation will enable us to provide funds for
necessary research.  We’re very grateful for the efforts that Max Athy and his
family and friends have put into this event last year and again this year, and
we look forward to working with them in the years ahead.”

A strong contingent of family and friends of the O'Connell family, students in
all Holliston schools and a large showing from the Holliston sports teams, both
at the High School and youth level is expected.  "Timmy" was an honorary captain
to the Holliston football team in 2007/2008 and his “ Number 7” is an
inspiration to the team every season.  Race organizer Max Athy (who is also a
captain of the 2012 Holliston Football Team) referenced the strong presence
Timmy always carries with the team and his influence to many of his teammates.
"Coach Kiley often references overcoming adversity during a football game or in
life like Timmy always did.  Our Team is always inspired from Tim’s courage and
amazing attitude through-out his battle with cancer and we know he is with us
when we reach down for some "Tim Time" during difficult times in games.   It has
been great to work closely with the O’Connell family and I am very excited that
this second annual event can help grow the Foundation and also continue to honor
Timmy’s memory.”

The 1.9 mile Race will begin and finish at Holliston High School with prizes and
concessions immediately following.  Runners, walkers of all ages are welcome to
attend. To learn more about the Timothy O'Connell Foundation, please visit www.timsteam.org or www.thetimothyoconnellfoundation.org or email
