Joanne's Boston Marathon Run

by Joanne O'Connell
4/10/2012

I will be running alongside Will Maley of Holliston who is the second member of “Tim’s Team.”  This is Will's fourth marathon - and he attributes much of his inspiration to those who have been stricken with cancer - especially Patricia Franchi Flaherty, Justin Mayer and Tim.  Our third teammate is Sarah Buerger of Chicago, Illinois.  Sarah was very excited to run her very first marathon in Boston - in support of a cause that helps families of children with cancer.  A friend of her twin fourth grade children is now undergoing treatment for leukemia.  Unfortunately, Sarah broke her foot a few weeks ago (the injury was not related to running) and can no longer run the Marathon, but she continues to raise funds for the Foundation.  She'll be along the route to cheer Will and me on.

Together, Will, Sarah and I hope to raise $10,000 for the Foundation.   Every penny you donate is fully tax-deductible and will go to support children and families going through cancer and bereavement.  The Timothy O’Connell Foundation continues to give scholarships to students who choose to study health-related fields, to fund the research of cures, treatments and causes of acute myeloid leukemia and other cancers, and to support organizations that seek to ease the burden of pediatric cancers, all in Tim’s honor and memory.

A gift of any amount will make a real difference and will be greatly appreciated.  To support my run, please visit www.timsteam.org, go to the “How to Donate” page and click on “Donate.”  Thank you so much for your consideration.

Thanks to Will, Sarah - and you!
Joanne

Best wishes for a good marathon and with your fundraising. I checked out the website and made a very user-friendly donation. Go Tim's Team!
