School Committee Candidate

Growing up in Holliston, I have always had a strong interest in the way our town functions and operates. After briefly living in Washington, D.C., I have come to further appreciate the strong sense of community that we have. As a graduate of the Holliston Public Schools in 2009, I was afforded great opportunities that have shaped my interests, passions and career. It is with great pleasure that I am writing to inform you of my decision to run for the School Committee here in the Town of Holliston.

I want to ensure that the Holliston Public Schools maintain the educational excellence that I was able to receive as a student. In order to do this, we must:

  1. Practice fiscal responsibility without sacrificing compassion for our educational community.

  2. Identify the growing costs in our schools and seek pragmatic alternatives.

  3. Increase the dialogue on School Committee business – only through thorough debate can we create substantive policy.

  4. Make a greater effort to reach out to the community. Office hours are not enough. We must be receptive and willing to hear thoughts, ideas, and criticism, from both residents and parents.

  5. Provide a young, fresh perspective that has been through the Holliston Public Schools, preK-12.

Continuing to embrace the innovation that Holliston is known for while maintaining our fiscal responsibility is a recipe for success. Let’s work together to be our neighbor’s keeper, to practice fiscal responsibility while fighting for superior education in Holliston.

Regards,

Edward Dooley

Candidate for Holliston School Committee

Good luck Edward! Fiscal Responsibility should be implemented into the public curriculum.
