“159 families rely on our Food Pantry, Please help”  read the bold sign that members of the Holliston Democratic Town Committee held every weekend since Thanksgiving. “We wanted to draw attention to a need in our community and believed that if people knew that the number of families was that high that they would be generous,” says Bill Dooling, the DTC coordinator for the collection.

And generous they were! In four weeks of collecting the DTC was proud to present $3,175 to the Food Pantry. “The Pantry are serving more families than ever before. Actually the numbers of families had quickly, too quickly, grown to 171. This collection comes just at the right time. Our community has always supported us with contributions of all kinds,” says Sylvia Stickney, a founder of the Holliston Pantry.

“All politics is local and what could be more local than helping your neighbors in a time of difficulty. The Food Pantry is a tremendous resource that we are proud to support,” says Beth Greely, chair of the Holliston DTC.

The Holliston Democratic Town Committee hopes to make this an annual event. Donations are always welcome at the Holliston Food Pantry and can be mailed to the Pantry at 23 Water Street.
