Blyn’s bronze medal performance included a silver in the bench press (358 lbs), a bronze in the deadlift (484 lbs) and a personal best squat (518 lbs).

Her combined lift total from the three events (1,361 lbs) helped the US Women’s Team finish fourth out of ten national teams in the 185.2-lbs weight class.

This is not the first time Blyn has represented Team USA in women’s power lifting. She placed third at the 2010 IPF World Championships in South Africa and recently won the USA Power Lifting (USAPL) Women’s National Championships. However, this latest success is particularly sweet for the 39-year-old lifter, who has worked hard to overcome injuries sustained in a car accident last year.

“I still have some back pain, but I’m not one to quit or give up on something I love,” said Blyn. She credits her comeback to her friends at New England Powerlifting, Big Mike Z and Iron Revolution, USA Powerlifting and her Team USA teammates and coaches. Blyn is also grateful for the support she has received from her clients and staff at Athletic Based Training in Holliston and Milford.

Blyn will compete in the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio, in March.
