Light at the End of the Tunnel

Today, the trail is back to being passable with the major trees all removed. By far the most difficult section was at Phipps Tunnel under Highland Street. A number of trees were wedged between the steep banks and were hanging dangerously above the railbed.

A really big THANK YOU to Tree Specialists and their crews for donating their time and equipment to cut down these trees. I am sure it was a very messy bit of cutting since the railbed is flooded out and muddy in that section. I didn’t get to see Tree Specialists at work by I am sure it could have been featured on Dirty Jobs. The pile was removed from the railbed today and the drainage is working better through the tunnel. Thank you again to Tree Specialists.
