Democrats from Holliston participated in the Massachusetts Democratic Party’s annual convention in Lowell last weekend. Delegates representing Holliston were Megan O'Brien, Nancy Farrell, Linda Arkow, Lisa Kaplan, Tom Driscoll, Jeremiah Driscoll, Lee DeSorgher and representatives of the State Committee, Bill Dooling and Rob Cassidy. State Representative Carolyn Dykema of Holliston was also in attendance.

At the convention, delegates adopted an Action Agenda that will serve as a blueprint for the party’s efforts to build on its grassroots successes in 2010 by creating community conversations throughout the Commonwealth about President Obama’s accomplishments and Senator Scott Brown’s voting record.

Gov. Deval Patrick addressed the convention along with several other constitutional officers and elected officials.

“I was very excited to attend my first state convention and represent Holliston Democrats there,” said Lisa Kaplan. "I’m looking forward to bringing the Action Agenda back to Holliston and getting to work on it.”

After the adoption of the Action Agenda, delegates had the opportunity to attend several workshops and break-out sessions.

The Holliston delegation was also proud that a resolution to stop the war in Afghanistan, which was written by the Metrowest Alliance and adopted by the Holliston DTC, was presented on the floor of the convention and passed with overwhelming support.

The committee normally meets on the second Saturday of the month at the Holliston Town Hall at 10:00 am. For more information on the Democratic Party or any of their meetings, please contact Chair Beth Greely at beth@yellowinc.net.
