Tar Truck Fire on Lowland

by Justin Brown, FF/EMT-P
5/20/2011

Holliston Firefighters were called at 5:40a.m. today for a fire in a loaded tar truck of the Independent Bituminous Co. on Lowland Street.

The truck was blazing completely when firefighters arrived, and the quantity of foam required to extinguish the fire necessitated Holliston's calling for the assistance of the Framingham Fire Department foam truck when the Holliston supply threatened to be exhausted.

The spectacular blaze, punctuated by a dramatic explosion, was contained to the one truck which was parked outside the building of the company.  No injuries were reported and firefighters were on the scene for an hour.

Well on the one hand I'm glad that people took time to read the article! Really though, this was an honest mistake- I had forgot to put the disclaimer about it being from 1964-1965 era. I won't forget again! Sorry for the confusion! ~Justin

Justin is a history buff and submitted this article with "date unknown", which I missed. Sorry for missing that important fact.

Something would've been in today's MWDN paper... Sure sounds like a made-up story to me. https://www.sos.nh.gov/corporate/soskb/Corp.asp?505171

This was an incendent that happened sometime in the 80's. The poster should have noted it.

I am on Engine 3, I talked to Holliston Fire Dept. dispatch tonight at 8:34 and they have no entries of this event on there logs.
