The Holliston 7th grade Girls basketball team reached the third round of the Metrowest basketball playoffs.

After beating  Weston (28-25) and rolling over higher-seeded Franklin (31-18), Holliston played in the semi-finals Saturday.

Using defense and rebounding – Coach Kurt Lorenzen’s key emphasis areas – the girls limited the tall and talented Milton team to 20 points.  However, not enough of Holliston’s shots went in.  A ferocious comeback, using a press and judicious fouling, brought the team to within 2 with 9 seconds left and Milton at the foul line.  After getting the rebound, the team ran their ‘We’re in it’ play to perfection, getting the ball upcourt in time for a shot which just missed; Holliston got the rebound, but the buzzer sounded, bringing an end to a very good season.
