Project Just Because

"Project Just Because" hopes to receive as many gifts and donations as possible for the less fortunate who live in the greater Hopkinton area, which includes Holliston among other local towns.

The First Congregational Church of Holliston will be one of the locations added to this year’s Holiday Stroll, which will take place on November 29, 2008, between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM, and will feature a program that we are sponsoring called, “Project Just Because.” It is our hope to receive as many gifts and donations as possible for the unfortunate who live in the greater Hopkinton area, which includes Holliston among other local towns.

During the Holiday Stroll, the church will have a table set up on the church lawn (in front of the columns) to accept donations. There are several ways in which these donations may be made. We will have receipts available for income tax purposes, and want to point out that it will be necessary for you to retain all sales receipts relevant to this/these gifts.

1. Cash or checks (made out to “Project Just Because,” with the memo line indicating “Holiday Wish List.”

2. Gift cards for any local store, gas station, restaurant, etc. These gift cards will enable mothers, for example, to pick out the proper size and preferred colors of clothing for their needy child/children.

3. Choose an ornament from the “Giving Tree.” Each of these ornaments will list requested items for a specific child. The person choosing one of these ornaments would then purchase every item on this list, then bring it, unwrapped, to the First Congregational Church in Holliston any time up through Thursday, December 11. All the items purchased for a specific person should be placed in one bag, with the ornament securely attached to this bag.

Donations may be made to the person manning the table during the Holiday Stroll, i.e., checks or gift cards. In the case of items purchased after taking an ornament from the “Giving Tree,” these may be dropped off inside the church any day between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, before December 11.

For those not familiar with the church layout, you would enter the building by the walkway on the right hand side of the main sanctuary. (You will see three lampposts along the side of this walkway.)   After going through the double doors, you will see the church office on your immediate right. Straight ahead of you will be a small table in the hallway in front of the Ladies Parlor. On the floor next to this table will be a cardboard box labeled “Project Just Because.”

Should you prefer to bring your gifts or donate directly to Project Just Because in Hopkinton, this is located at 45 South St., Hopkinton; 1-508-435-6511. If bringing items directly to this organization, call first to be sure of the hours they are open that day. You may also contact this organization on the web at www.projectjustbecause.org
