News from the Publishers

by The Publishers
9/15/2019

On September 30, 2019, the current 11-year-old version of the Holliston Reporter will close, as it can no longer be hosted on modern servers.  But we couldn’t let it go!  So, on October 1, 2019, a brand new Holliston Reporter will take its place.

During the past eight months as publishers—writers, photographers, interviewers, viewers, bookkeepers, participants, onlookers, speakers and inquirers—we have learned much about Holliston and our neighbors.  The more time we spend with you, the more our attachment grows.  And the Holliston Reporter, our little retirement project, has become an integral part of our days.

Working diligently to preserve the Holliston Reporter, we have hired a professional web designer and web developers to bring our site up to a more current standard.  Our appearance may change, but our mission will remain the same:

It is our mission to provide impartial reporting on all facets of life in Holliston as a service to our community.

Readers - As you can see, we are still reporting daily town news for you, and we anticipate no interruption to your daily reading practice.  HollistonReporter.com will get you to the new site.

Archived articles will be available to you until September 30, 2019, on the present site.  Although we are exploring many ways that might hold these archives for posterity, just to be safe you may want to save / print a copy of articles for your own archive.

One way to save and print an article is to use the Search window in the upper right side of the Holliston Reporter page.  Enter the title (full or partial) or the author’s name, and press enter.  Scroll through the items returned to find the one(s) you want to save.

1.      Click Continue under the article you want to save – the complete article will appear

2.      Highlight the entire article – text and pictures

3.      Click Copy to grab the text / pictures

4.      Create a new / blank document in a word processing software

5.      Click Paste to place the text / pictures in the document

6.      Save and / or Print the document from the word processing software.

Contributors (Past, Present, and Future) – You may want to use the above steps to ensure that you have some of your favorite works for your personal archives.  During the initial transition to the new site, contributors will be asked to send content and pictures as word processing files to us for posting.  As we all become more familiar with the new posting process, training will be available so contributors may create their own content on the site.  We will continue to edit / publish all content.

Supporters (Also Known as Advertisers) – Your financial support has allowed us to make the necessary investment to get the new site built – thank you!  Advertising is the backbone of most websites.  The new Holliston Reporter site is being built so that our supporters are visible on the web pages.

As additional information about the look and function of the new site becomes available, we will share it with you.  Also, we are exploring the possibility of providing tutorials – either online, or in person - to ease the transition from the old to the new Holliston Reporter.

Thank you all for making the last 8 1/2 months of our time in Holliston so lively and exciting.  We believe the BEST IS YET TO COME!

We can always be contacted at Pubs.holliston.reporter@gmail.com.
