Holliston TD Bank Closing in November
Local TD Bank located at 746 Washington Street has notified customers that they are closing their doors on November 15th. The bank suggests customers use a nearby branch such as Ashland, Milford or Framingham. A teller at the bank said she was unaware of any new business locating to the former church.
This could be a real opportunity for the Town. Some ideas...expand the library. Look at what Westwood and Medfield have done with their downtown libraries. A perfect location for a community center. People have been talking about this for years. Let the ideas flow before this is sold to another bank...

It is the sewers though. What drives traffic downtown? Restaurants. Why we don't have many - Septic. The old finnertys in Wayland used to pump there septic system daily. I would love to see an Arts Center go in downtown. Like the one Natick put in. It drives traffic downtown at night when it would usually be dead. That could entice more food places to come to town.

I had an account at TD bank, and rarely went to the Holliston branch because it was a hassle to park on Washington street or go down one way Charles street. Sewers are only going to affect your ability to attract a restaurant to an open retail space. Businesses like the Superette and the dog groomer do just fine, as far as I know, with the septic currently in place.

So that means we will have more and multiple empty store fronts. The old insurance building next to the Library which has been for lease for years, the hair salon space, the building that houses TD bank, the hideous gas station which is falling apart etc. It would be interesting to know if the bank is closing because of a lack of foot traffic. It would also be interesting to find out exactly what the Selectboard and others are doing to foster a thriving, attractive downtown and encourage business. Where is the strategic plan for downtown? If there is one, what is it? And, please, no one comment about the sewers. It's a factor but isn't the only one as we aren't the only town on septic.

Probably lack of business. Traffic and poor parking is probably most of it. The people working in the branch are very nice, I hope they all end up at a branch they like! Both Milford and ashland have better access and better parking
