Trendy Textiles Turn into Trash
Clothing retailers base their business on getting trendy looks into stores quickly. Their focus is on speed and low cost. Fast fashion means clothes do not last long, due to poor construction or being tossed when trends pass. Buying from green companies and recycling your clothes at a nearby thrift shop, clothing donation site or textile recycling center helps to keep fabrics and harmful chemicals out of landfills.
Although the Holliston Recycling Center does not accept textiles, textiles including clothing, shoes, or other items (linens, socks, fabric, teddy bears, etc.) that you no longer wear or use can be recycled. Don’t throw them away!

Use the MassDEP-supported Beyond the Bin Recycling Directory to search by type of material and location to find out where to recycle, reuse, or re-purpose textiles that don’t belong in your household recycling bin.
