5/25/2019

The Holliston Panthers Women’s Varsity Team continues it march on the record books.

Excitement for the team began with a 13-8 win over Tri Valley rival Medfield. Holliston had never beaten Medfield in the history of the school program. Domination on the draw with Holliston winning 14 of the 23 draws taken.

The draw circle being controlled by Senior Lily Trainor (17), Lauren Salley (13) and Audrey Givens (16) (along with support from Junior Kaelin Trombly [8], Sophomore Livi Givens [20] and Freshman sisters Abby [12] and Bridget Glynn [11]) led to five different scorers lead by Junior Maggie Fitzgerald (14) (5 goal, 1 assist) along with Lily Trainor (3 goals, 1 assist) and Junior Kaelin Trombly (3 goals).

While the weather put a few challenges in the celebration of Senior Night, that did not dampen the evening. The Lady Panthers qualified for the MIAA playoffs with their 9th win of the season after at 17-9 win over Ashland on Senior night. This is the Panther’s second straight playoff qualification, a school record.

Another school record was set when Senior Lauren Salley recorded her 100th career goal in a win over Ashland. Joining Lily Trainor as the only two Lady Panthers to achieve this level of goal scoring.

Senior Night has become a wonderful tradition. The Holliston Youth Lacrosse Association plays host for the evening with a post-game cookout.  The highlight of the evening is watching the girls U9 program get to play a 10 minute game on the field during half-time. The Varsity then treated the girls to a High Five Tunnel after they played.

Below is an excerpt of the script used at Senior Night

2019 Holliston HS Girls Lacrosse Senior Night  -  Monday May 20, 2019 - Holliston vs. Ashland

"Tonight, we will be honoring the Girls Lacrosse Team’s Senior Class of 2019.  These 11 seniors have left quite a mark on the program.  As a class, they will leave with the most wins in school history while also helping to secure Holliston’s first state tournament appearance in 11 years and first-EVER tournament win in 2018!  These Seniors leave the program better than how they found back in 2016 through their hard work, dedication, and passion for the game.  It is because of this group that the Girls Lacrosse program here at Holliston HS has such a bright future.  Panthers Head Coach, Ali Jacobs, would like to personally thank each senior and their families at midfield after they hear their name called…
