2019 HHS Women's Varsity Lacrosse Update

The 2019 Holliston Panther Varsity Women’s Lacrosse season is well underway (6-6 Overall 5-4 Tri Valley).  The Lady Panthers play in the Tri Valley leagues, arguably one of the toughest divisions for lacrosse in MA.

First year Coach Ali Jacobs knows all about the Tri Valley as she played lacrosse at rival Westwood High school before going on to win several NCAA Division Championships with Northwestern University.

Ali is relying on a strong senior class of eleven players that have been playing together since the 3rd grade. Senior Captains Lily Trainor, Audrey Givens, Grace Inman and Emma Sawyers, who have been on the varsity since Freshman year, have set going deep into the playoffs as their goal for this year.  Last year’s squad set a school record for being the first Holliston High women’s lacrosse team to win a game in the playoffs going 1-1. The senior class consists of the Captains along with Jayda Shaughnessy, Kate Moser, Danielle Kiley, Alex Coburn, Abha Athawale and Eliza Altobelli.  Rounding out the team with four juniors, four sophomores and three freshman give Coach Jacobs and strong program to continue to build upon in the coming years.

Two big milestones are close at hand with Senior Lauren Salley going after her 100th career goal. Senior Lily Trainor is going after her 200th Career Goal and 300th Career Point, both would be first for Holliston. Trainor will continue her lacrosse playing up the road on lacrosse scholarship at the University of Vermont. Salley and Trainor both know these records are not possible without their teammates and while exciting achievements, teams wins and getting into the playoffs is the priority.

On Monday May 20th at 6:00pm, Holliston host Ashland for Senior Night.  Senior is a fun night to celebrate the achievement the Senior Class has made for the school and our community.  All 11 Seniors started playing in the town’s youth lacrosse program.  As way to give back the Holliston Youth Lacrosse Association contributes to the Senior night by hosting a team cookout after the game.
