Robert Skerry at 74

Robert C. Skerry, 74, of Milford passed away Tuesday Nov. 27, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer at home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Evelyn E. (Ghelli) Skerry.

Mr. Skerry had worked as a machinist for 45 years. He was employed as a supervisor at Fenwal Corp. in Ashland before retiring in 2006. Prior to that, he had been employed with General Electric in Ashland.

Robert was born November 29, 1943 in Milford the son of the late James C. and Anna (Barrows) Skerry. He attended Hopedale High School and was a member of the class of 1962. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran.

Robert enjoyed drag racing, hunting and fishing. He took joy in woodworking, enjoyed mowing the lawn, and was a member of the American Legion Post #77, Ashland and a very proud owner of a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, Evelyn, he is survived by his children, Robert J. Skerry and his wife Kathleen of Holliston, Darryl M. Skerry and his wife Tricia of Milford, Cindy O’Connell of Mendon and Ronald L. Skerry of Milford; three sisters, Patricia Kell of Mendon, Linda Paddock of Millbury and Karen Skerry of Milford; twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Tim O’Connell and a brother, Ronald Skerry.

Visiting hours will be held Friday Dec. 7, 2018 from 8:30 – 9:30 AM in the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main Street, Milford.

Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery, Rte. 16, Hopedale.
