Community Preservation Committee Accepting Funding Applications

The Community Preservation Committee will be accepting applications for grant requests to be presented at the October Town Meeting through Friday, September 14, 2018.  Applications can be found on the Town’s web page: http://www.townofholliston.us/community-preservation-committee and can be e-mailed to the Community Preservation Committee at hollistoncpc@gmail.com or returned to Town Hall.

The Community Preservation Act, which Holliston adopted through a ballot initiative in 2002, uses a combination of local property taxes and state matching funds to help the town fund various initiatives which improve the quality of life for Holliston residents.  Funds can be spent for projects in one of three categories: Open Space and Recreation, Affordable Housing, and Historic Preservation.  Recent projects completed with the help of CPA funds include the purchase and renovation for inclusion into the rail trail of the 8-Arch Bridge, renovation of the tennis courts and new playground equipment at Stoddard Park and the completion of a new public parking area for access to Wenakeening Woods.  In addition, the CPC has provided ongoing support for the efforts of the Holliston Affordable Housing Trust to create affordable housing units in town.

For more information about the Commuity Preservation Committee, including the types of projects CPA funds can support, please visit the Community Preservation Coalition’s web site at http://www.communitypreservation.org/content/cpa-overview.  Or stop by one of our meetings – our next one is scheduled for Wednesday, September 19 at 7:30 in Town Hall, or email us; we would love to hear from you!
