The Second Annual Bill Wechsler ALS 5K Race/Walk to Find a Cure
The Second Annual Bill Wechsler ALS 5K Race/Walk to Find a Cure is happening on Saturday, May 12th at 12pm at the Holliston Rail Trail.
Organized by members of the Holliston High School’s National Honor Society, this event is benefiting the ALS Association, a national non-profit organization working to lead global research for treating and curing Lou Gehrig’s Disease and encourage hope in those affected by ALS and their families. ALS, or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a “progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord” according to the ALS Association.
The Bill Wechsler ALS 5K Race/Walk to Find a Cure began in 2017 as a way to support beloved Holliston High School teacher Bill Wechsler who was recently diagnosed with ALS. Due to his incredible impact on all students and faculty as an inspiring mentor, members of HHS looked for an opportunity to channel his compassion and supportive nature into a community event.
