Vernal Pool Walk, Sat. April 21, 2018, 10 AM

The Holliston Conservation Associates will be holding their annual Vernal Pool Walk on April 21st at 10:00 AM at the Daniels' Conservation Area.

Mr. Marc Connelly, Naturalist, will be leading this annual event to celebrate Earth Day!  We will meet at the entrance to the Daniels Conservation Property.  You can park at the high school and walk across the street.  The vernal pool is a short walk into the property.  This is a great hands-on program for children and adults alike.  All are invited to this FREE program.

Dress appropriately for the weather.   We will be outdoors for an hour or more.  Since we will be at the water’s edge, boots may be helpful but are not necessary.

The weather has been interesting this spring, but I am sure you have heard the peepers and wood frogs in the pools, so nature is taking its course.  We may see egg masses of frogs or salamanders.  They feel a bit like Jello.  We may find a fairy shrimp or a caddis fly larva.  Caddis fly larvae build a house around themselves from bits of grass or twigs.  Marc always has neat things to tell us about life in and around a vernal pool.  Come and see what you can find this year!
