The Friends of the Holliston Public Library will present a series of spring programs for the public. On Wednesday, February 28th @ 7PM  local author Jana Milbocker will present a visual tour of her book, The Garden Tourist.  The book covers 120 botanical gardens, historic estates and destination nurseries in New England and the Northeast that are open to the public.  This program is perfect for gardeners yearning for a spring or summer road trip after a long winter.  The program is free and the book will be available to purchase or to borrow from the library with a valid library card.

 

On Saturday, March 3 at 7 pm local musician Jon McAuliffe will perform at the library.  Jon combines rock, pop, gospel and blues and sings and plays old favorites and original compositions.  Refreshments will be served and the concert is free.  To hear Jon’s music visit http://www.jonmcauliffe.com

The Morning Book Club will read Eleanor and Hick: The Love Affair That Shaped a First Lady by Susan Quinn on Monday, March 5 at 11 am and the History Book Club will discuss City of Ambition: FDR, LaGuardia , & the Making of Modern New York by Mason Williams on Thursday, March 15 at 6:30.  Movie Monday will show “Maudie” about one of Canada’s most popular artists on Monday, March 12 at 12:30 pm.

The Friends of the Holliston Public Library will present their fourth annual Lego Fest on Saturday, March 3 at Upper Town Hall in Holliston.  Lego Fest helps children learn engineering principles through legos.  Workshops are run by Play-Well TEKnologies in three sessions: 10-11:30 am; 12-1:30 pm; and 2-3:30 pm.  One group per session is for ages 5-7 and the other is for ages 8-12. All legos and instruction are provided.  Tickets can be purchased at the children's desk of the library with cash or by check for $15 per child per session.  No refunds or exchanges.  This program sold out quickly last year and participants are encouraged to purchase tickets early.  Families will also have a chance to enter free raffles for prizes by becoming Friends members and all children will receive discount coupons from Fiske’s General Store to use to purchase Legos on March 3.   For more info call 508-429-0617 or visit www.hollistonlibrary.org.  For more info on Play-Well visit www.play-well.org.
