Last spring over 700 students had the opportunity to participate in Holliston’s Miller Elementary School Marathon Fitness Challenge (MFC). This incentive based walk / run program is voluntarily managed by Miller staff members, Wendy Krauss and Pat Montain. The popular wellness program encourages students to run or walk an ultimate distance of a marathon (26.2 miles) or half marathon (13.1 miles). Students challenge themselves, classmates, and their families. There is no fee for student participation with an emphasis that health, running, and physical fitness does not require an affiliated cost and can be incorporated as a habitual routine. Thanks to Framingham Union Aid Association’s (FUAA) grant program that offered Miller funding to support MFC in 2017.

FUAA also provided grant funding to the Holliston Police Department in 2017. In recent previous years FUAA has further supported the Holliston Police Department as well as generous grant funding to the Special Olympics 5 Town School Day Games hosted in Holliston in 2015.

FUAA’s Grant Program is currently underway and accepting applications through January 31, 2018. The 501 (c) 3 organization services Ashland, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Marlborough, Medway, Millis, Natick, Sherborn, Southborough, Sudbury and Wayland. Please see the FUAA website for grant eligibility and the 2018 application:
