Candy Making with Linda
Tuesday, February 6th at 9:30 am
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, join Linda M. on Tuesday, February 6th at 9:30 am for a fun candy making class. Learn how easy it is to make candy using candy melts. We will use candy molds, make bark, including the always popular rocky road, and have some chocolate dipped strawberries and pretzels.
Everyone goes home with a box of treats. Cost is $5.00. Please sign up in advance.

I’m In The Hospital—Now What?
February 15, 2018—6:30 pm—8:00 pm
If you are on, or about to be on Medicare, or have a loved one covered by Medicare, this is important information. Senior Center Director, Linda Marshall will talk about topics such as, what it means to be admitted to a hospital under observation status, and the impact that has on your benefits and future care. We will also discuss what is and is not covered by Medicare during a Hospital or rehab stay, when you should start planning your rehab admission, and the new C.A.R.E. act, where you have a right to have a family member informed or and instructed in your care needs following a hospitalization. Prior to joining the Senior Center, Linda worked 30 years as a counselor and social worker for area hospitals and nursing and rehab facilities

Grief and Loss Support Group
February 14th ~ 1:30 pm—3:00 pm
We begin the New Year with forming a consistent, monthly group to gather in friendship and support as we navigate the journey of loss and grief, the next one being on the 14th of February. Light refreshments will be served but also feel free to join us for our regularly scheduled lunch in the dining room at noon.

Dr. Gary Hylander Presents “1968: AMERICA AND THE WORLD”
This year, 2018, marks the 50th anniversary of one of the most tumultuous years in the modern era. The year, 1968, in actuality, lasted over sixteen months. Join us as we examine among other events the following topics: The Civil Rights Movement, Mao's Cultural Revolution, the assassinations of King and Kennedy, Dubeck's Prague Spring and much more.
THE TET OFFENSIVE @ 50 — Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 1:00pm
January 2018, marks the 50th anniversary of the TET Offensive. TET was the largest and most important campaign of the Vietnam War. Taking advantage of a cease-fire to celebrate the first day of the Vietnamese New Year, Vietcong fighters launched attacks against virtually every significant target in South Vietnam. Although General Westmoreland correctly judged the attack to be a complete military failure the more immediate impact of TET was political. TET re-energized the anti-war movement at home exploding all official assurances that America was winning in Vietnam and that the war would soon be over.
MAO's CULTURAL REVOLUTION — Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 10:00am

Fear that the Chinese people had lost their revolutionary fervor, Mao Zedong urged the creation of the "Red Guards" to purge the nation of the creeping "impure" elements of the "Four Olds": old customs, old culture, old habits and old ideas. Mao believed that the Chinese Revolution of 1949 had to be a continuous process to prevent the growth of bourgeois capitalist ideas. Chaos followed.
