Movie Mondays will show Their Finest on Monday, January 8 at 12:30 pm.  The film concerns a young secretary who becomes a scriptwriter for British propaganda films during the London Blitz.  Rated R, 117 minutes long.  The film is free and popcorn is provided.   The Morning Book Club will discuss Emily Miller’s News from the End of the World on the same day at 11 am. The author will discuss her work with the group by phone for the first half hour with discussion to follow.  The History Book Club will discuss Three Days in January: Dwight Eisenhower’s Final Mission by Brett Baier on Thursday, January 18 at 6:30 pm.  New members are always welcome at both book groups and books are available to borrow about one month ahead of discussions.

The Holliston Public Library will present “The Cocoanut Grove Fire” on Thursday, January 18 at 7 pm.  The speaker is Stephanie Schorow who has written a book about the tragic Boston nightclub fire of 1942 in which nearly 500 lost their lives.  Readers may borrow a library copy of the book or purchase one of their own at the program.  This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library

On Saturday, January 20 at 11 am, Jan Kardys from Unicorn for Writers will present “You Wrote a Book, Now What?”  Jan has 35 years in the book publishing industry and will cover every step from developing an idea to actually getting published.  She details traditional and self-publishing rights, marketing and using technology and social media to maximize visibility of your work.   The program is free.  From 1-3 pm local authors will be selling their books to the public.  Authors who would like space at no charge should contact Leslie at Lmcdonnell@minlib.net or call 508-429-0617.

The Friends of the Library will meet on Tuesday, January 9 at 7 pm.  The Friends welcome new members to plan fundraising events to benefit the library.
