Our final "Student Volunteer of the Week" for December is HHS Senior Jack Rider. Jack works so hard at the Pantry, and the Shelf wouldn't run as smoothly without his hard work and dedication! Here are his responses to our questions:

What is your current volunteering role?

Currently, I am the manager of student volunteers at the Holliston Food Pantry. I work a shift at the food pantry a few times a month.

What made you want to get involved in volunteering?

An experience I had with a homeless man in NYC - He asked me for change, but I didn't have any. I gave him some leftover french fries and the smile and look of gratitude on his face made me want to keep helping people in need.

What is your favorite part of volunteering?

My favorite part of volunteering is interacting with and learning more about the people I am helping. It makes me very happy that I can make a positive impact on their lives, so it is interesting to hear about what they do.

What have you gained from volunteering?

From volunteering, I have gained a lot of experience talking to all sorts of people. I have also learned that my passion is to make other people happy

Check back in January to see who our volunteer of the month is! As always, please feel free to send in submissions of people who you think deserve this honor!
