HOLLISTON RECEIVES TWO ELECTRIC VEHICLES FROM THE GREEN COMMUNITIES GRANT PROGRAM”

Tuesday, October 24, 2017:  Holliston, MA:  The Board of Selectmen announced the Town has recently received two (2) 2017 Nissan LEAF electric vehicles and was awarded an electric charging station.

According to Jeff Ritter, Town Administrator, “the vehicles will be used by Town staff to conduct business around Town and will be made accessible to all Town staff including the School Department.  Specifically, the vehicles will be made available to the Board of Assessors staff and the land use departments to conduct daily business.  Thus, resulting in a budget savings for those departments, reduction in energy consumption and reducing the Town’s energy use footprint.”

Further, Ritter stated, “the charging station, which is available at no charge to the public is located behind Town Hall.  We are delighted that through the Green Communities program we are able to promote energy efficiency through the use of electric vehicles to conduct routine business.  The range of the vehicles is approximately 100 miles.”

Funding for the vehicles were part of at $247,228 grant received by the Town to reduce energy consumption and realize energy efficiencies at the Library, Senior Center, and Town Hall.

One is primarily used by the Building Inspector and the other is used by the Assessors but they are also available to any Department Head who may need them.
